Digital Retinal Imaging

Advanced Diagnostic Technology

At Dr. Mark A. Orso & Associates, we prioritize your eye health with advanced diagnostic technology. Our Digital Retinal Imaging provides a comprehensive view of your retina, allowing us to detect and monitor potential eye conditions early. This non-invasive imaging is an essential part of your eye exam, ensuring we have the best information to support your vision care.

Optomap

We are proud to offer Optomap, a state-of-the-art retinal imaging system that captures a wide-angle view of your retina in just seconds. This advanced technology allows us to see more of your eye than ever before, helping us identify any issues before they become serious.

Investment in Your Eye Health

While there is a nominal out-of-pocket fee of $39 for the Optomap service, we want to emphasize that this investment provides you with a superior alternative to traditional dilation methods. Dilation can lead to temporary vision impairment lasting 4-8 hours, which can be inconvenient for many patients. With Optomap, you receive immediate, high-resolution images of your retina without the need for dilating drops.

Our Commitment to Transparency

As eye care professionals, we are committed to transparency in our recommendations for your eye health. We have found that the advanced technology of Optomap enables us to diagnose diseases of the eye more efficiently and accurately. If you choose to opt out of the Optomap imaging, please be aware that we will need to schedule your appointment accordingly, as you will require assistance for transportation if you undergo traditional dilation.

The Future of Your Eyes

Investing in Optomap not only enhances your comfort during the eye exam but also ensures that you receive the highest quality care for your vision health and the future of your eyes. Our recommendation is based on our commitment to providing you with the best options for maintaining your eye health and ensuring your vision for years to come.

Benefits of Optomap

  • Wide-Angle Imaging: Captures up to 200 degrees of your retina in a single image for a more comprehensive view compared to traditional methods.

    • Diabetic Retinopathy: Damage to the retina caused by diabetes.

    • Glaucoma: Increased pressure in the eye that can lead to vision loss if untreated.

    • Tumors: Abnormal growths that may affect the eye or surrounding areas.

  • Non-Invasive Procedure: Quick and comfortable imaging process that requires no dilating drops, resulting in less time spent in the office.

  • Detailed Documentation: Digital images are stored in your medical record for easy comparison during future exams.
